Oceanic's
DataMask
What is it? A dive mask that displays
vital dive information sent from a
wireless transmitter attached to the
diver's tank. The DataMask is arguably
one of the most anticipated dive
products in recent memory. It was
originally designed for U.S. Special
Operations Forces, who in their missions
use underwater sensors including
compasses, handheld sonars, and
hydrographic survey systems that require
the use of both hands during operation.
The DataMask displays the important
information on a miniature liquid
crystal display (LCD), and includes
proprietary Digital Optic System,
microprocessor, depth transducer,
wireless cylinder pressure receiver,
diver replaceable battery, and
controlling software. The miniature LCD
allows divers to keep their eyes focused
on the dive while seeing critical dive
data presented to them, including
current depth, elapsed dive time,
cylinder pressure, and dive time
remaining. The Digital Optic System
provides a clear, highly magnified image
of the LCD, which is viewable regardless
of environmental conditions and may be
seen clearly by the vast majority of
people, regardless of vision.
Benefits to your diving: What's not to
like? Without having to reach for gauges
to check your remaining air, depth or
elapsed dive time, divers can truly
experience hands-free diving, get vital
information faster, communicate more
with other divers, and expend less
energy reaching around for gauges,
providing divers more bottom time. For
