THE COVERS Articles & Editorials AUGUST 1998 • Volume 8 Number 8

Seeing the "magic eye" on this month's cover takes some work. There are two basic techniques you can use. The first is to hold the cover so that it touches your nose (ignore the comments you'll hear). Relax your eyes and slowly move the cover away from your nose, perhaps an inch every two or three seconds. Keep staring at the cover and the image should start to appear. The second method is to hold the cover so you can see it reflect light then stare at the object you see reflected. After a couple of seconds you should see depth, followed by the 3D image of the Dolphins. Our Editorial (page 8) has more about this month's unique reverse cover.
