Dive Boat Defined: What to Expect
on a Dive Boat — and What It Takes
To Operate One
When it comes to boat diving, divers have certain expectations — they depend on the captain and crew of the dive boat to get them safely to and from the dive site and to provide a variety of operational and safety-related services in between. At the Intersection of Physics and ‘Standard Practice’: The Science —
and Controversy — of Deep Safety Stops
For nearly 30 years divers have been admonished not to ascend directly to the surface, but to halt their ascent and stop for a few minutes at a depth of 10 to 20 feet — for added safety against decompression sickness. By cleaning up death, they bring life, often in unlikely ways.
