was formed by construction of Wolf Creek Dam, which was completed in 1950.
The dam was built for flood control, hydroelectric power generation and
recreation. The remnants of several small towns still exist. The lake is 101
miles long (162 km), has 1,255 miles (2,008 km) of shoreline and 66,000
