Lannon Quarry , Wisconsin

Lannon Quarry in Menomonee Falls , Wisconsin , is part of Menomonee Park : 394 acres of rolling fields, maple woods, cattail marsh, wetlands, and the 16-acre quarry lake. The recreation site west of the Milwaukee metro has a swimming beach, beachhouse, and concession stand open during the summer. It's popular with divers looking for a relatively shallow dive to hone their skills, and is operated by the Waukesha County parks department.

A scuba diving permit and liability release form are required and are available at the park entrance or at the Parks and Land Use Office.

Visibility: 25 feet (7.5 m)

Water temperature: Ranges from the 40s to the 70s Fahrenheit (5-26 Celsius) during the season.

Aquatic life: Trout, bluegill, perch, crappie.

Fees: In addition to the park entrance fee of $5 per car on weekends or $2.50 on weekdays, there are annual fees of $12.50 for certified divers, $18.50 for dive instructors, and $3 for student divers.

On-site amenities: Camping and picnicking areas, hiking trails, horseback trails, archery ranges, and cross-country ski trails.

Getting there: From Milwaukee , take Interstate 94 West toward Madison . Merge onto U.S. 45 North toward Fond Du Lac . Exit on Silver Spring Road . Turn left on Silver Spring Road and continue west to Townline Road . Turn right on Townline Road and continue north for about three miles (5 km). Turn right at the Menomonee Park entrance.
