Morrison's Quarry, Quebec

Across the border and into Wakefield , Quebec , is the privately owned Morrison's Quarry, off Highway 105. The dive site is one of the region's most popular training areas. It is also has a popular campground and is home to concerts and festivals during the summer.

Divers can follow the quarry's winding access road to the bottom. They'll find a plane at 35 feet (11 m), a tugboat at 60 feet (18 m), plus two cars.

A dive site liability waiver must be signed at time of payment.

Depths to: 140 feet (42 m)

Visibility: 25 feet (7.5 m) in the summer and more than 100 feet (30 m) in the spring and fall.

Water temperature: Two thermoclines drop temperatures at the bottom to (45) degrees Fahrenheit (7 degrees Celsius) year-round.

Aquatic life: Little to none.

Fees: $10

On-site amenities: parking, washrooms with a shower, beverage machine, wood stove, barbecue, picnic tables, floating sundeck, water slide and sandy beach.

Getting there: From the Queensway, take the Nicholas/Mann exit, continue on Mann (it turns into King Edward), take King Edward to the sign that says Hull, Quebec 5 (King Edward turns into the 5), follow the 5 North toward Maniwaki,  follow sign that says Lancaster/Wakefield to the right, and then turn left at the lights, follow the 105 North to Morrison's Quarry, located on the righthand side of the road (look for the white rock and the Great Canadian Bungee Jump tower).
