In the middle of the village of New Paris , Ohio , along the border with Indiana is a spring-fed lake that's part of what was known as France Lake Park . The site dates to the early 1900s when it opened as a limestone quarry and now is a multipurpose recreational site, with full-service camping, a business resort, as well as diving opportunities. Underwater finds include sunken boats, an automobile, bikes, and a computer desk with a computer.

Visibility: 15-50 feet (4.5-15 m).

Water temperature: 65 degrees Fahrenheit (18 degrees Celsius)

Aquatic life: Bass, catfish, bluegill, grass carp more than 4 feet long, paddlefish, and freshwater jellyfish.

Fees: 2006 rates were $16 per diver per day, which includes a tank of air. Season passes available for $250 per person.

Getting there: Just off Interstate Interstate 70 at the Ohio/Indiana border. Take Indiana exit 156B. Follow the exit directly onto U.S. 40 and travel through the first stop light to the first "flashing yellow" light at State Route 320. Turn left on 320 and travel about 1 mile (1.6 km) into the village of New Paris . Natural Springs is on the left side of the road, just past a gas station.
